Version 1.2.1 Information

What's New with Version 1.2.1?

File System Factory 1.2.1 contains numerous code updates and bug fixes developed since the release of the 1.20 product in May 2004. Version 1.2.1 also contains a variety of new features and capabilities over the 1.20 release. All customers are highly encouraged to upgrade to this release as quickly as possible. For a complete list of updates and enhancements, see the detailed list later on this page.

 

Download and Installation/Upgrade

Version 1.2.1 of File System Factory is delivered as a single executable installer. This installer can perform a new installation of File System Factory, or it can upgrade an existing File System Factory installation.

Updates and New Features in Version 1.2.1?

File System Factory 1.2.1 includes the following changes from the base 1.20 product release:

Updates and Fixes

  • Fix issues in quota calculation reporting.
  • Fix for quota manager issue with object names containing spaces.
  • Added code to automatically locate servers in a domain container.
  • Fix tree walker to appropriately display domain containers.
  • Fix to remove _ADMIN volumes from the selectable volume list.
  • Fix icon for domain objects in tree walker.
  • Fix miscellaneous table alignment problems in the user interface.
  • Add code to allow CN's with a dot in them.
  • Fix to allow underscores in server names.
  • Fix for "stuck" events. High priority events never relinquish control appropriately after an appropriate amount of time.
  • Fix procesing errors for groups with "Never Delete" specified in the policy.
  • Fix for extraneous "Add Group" events on the pending events list so that they are cleaned up appropriately.
  • Fix for "no more paths" in "Add Group" processing so that automatic retries occur correctly when additional paths are added to the policy.
  • Fix for problem with an ampersand in a container name
  • Fixed bugs with -member- and -owner- rights assignments at the root of a group storage template.
  • Fixed status messages associated with add and remove owner events.
  • Fix backfill user home directory options so that aborted events can be backfilled properly.
  • Fix bug where home directories were being moved unnecessarily during a policy change where both policies point to the same paths.
  • Fix for NCPRequestHandler() to appropriately manage NCP requests containing unprintable characters.
  • Fix formatting bug in reporting subsystem where lines were being truncated.
  • Fix various documentation issues in the Administrator's Guide.
  • Fix in event monitor to deal with extraneous create user events when users are moved such that the move crosses partition boundaries.
  • Fix case matching issues which resulted in unnecessary data movement.
  • Fix to allow abort of "non-abortable" events.

New Features

  • New user backfill option to assign missing home directory attribute for users by performing a matching analysis on a given eDirectory subtree and corresponding file system.
  • New user backfill option to reassign home directory attributes.
  • Enable movement of home directory data when a user moves from a non-policy-governed location to a policy-governed location.
  • Add multiple simultaneous event abort capability.
  • Add disagnostic capability to dump a complete FSF configuration, all policies objects and attributes, as well as the entire event queue to a configuration file.
  • Add recatalog option to the standard user backfill.
  • Add capability for quota assignment copy at creation of -member-/-owner- driven sub directories in group storage templates.
  • Add user backfill option to recopy a policy template.
  • Add user backfill option to distribute files from a proxy template location to users.
  • Add group storage backfill options.
  • Add consistency check report and reporting/graphing components.
  • Add Security Principal configuration option to govern who has rights to conduct certain FSF interface operations.
  • Add rename event capability integration into -member- and -owner- driven subdirectories in group storage.
